Sustainability management
One of BALTPOOL’s main strategic focuses is sustainability and compliance. We ensure that biomass comply with EU sustainability requirements, thus contributing to the sustainable use of biomass and reducing GHG emissions. BALTPOOL also contributes directly to the implementation of the EPSO-G Group’s sustainability orientations and the Group’s sustainability policy. For more information on sustainability management in the Group, please refer to the consolidated EPSO-G Group Sustainability Report.
In 2024, the EPSO-G Group prepared an assessment of the Group’s dual (impact and financial) materiality and BALTPOOL is an integral part of this assessment process. The Group’s 2024 materiality assessment process followed a dual materiality approach, assessing the sustainability issues set out in the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. A sustainability matter is material when it meets the defined criteria of impact materiality and/or financial materiality. In determining the dual materiality of sustainability issues, the following material sustainability topics have been identified at Group level:
-
Environmental area: climate change, circular economy, biodiversity and ecosystems.
-
Social area: own workforce, affected communities, consumers and end-users.
- Governance: business ethics.
More information about the Group’s double materiality assessment, methodology, and related material topics is available in the consolidated EPSO-G sustainability report.
