Biomass and heat trade statistics February of 2022

  • The value of BWCS (BALTPOOL Wood Chips SPOT) LT reached 27,93 Eur/MWh. Compared to the value of January, the index increased by 8,9 %, and compared to the same period last year, the growth is 119 %.
  • Compared to the results of January, the total amount of delivered biomass decreased by 6 %
    to 761,140 MWh (30 % of the amount delivered under long-term contracts). The volume of biomass delivered increased by 4% compared to the same period last year.
  • The supply price of chopped wood for the 2021-2022 heating season currently averages 22,74 Eur/MWh. Comparing the heating seasons of 2020-2021, the supply price increased by 109 %.
  • The prices of transactions concluded in Estonia in December amounted to 19,90 Eur/MWh.

HEAT AUCTION STATISTICS 

  • In February 2022, a heat energy purchase auction was held for March 2022.
  • The weighted average price of heat energy reached 3.85 € ct/kWh and was lower than heat energy supplied in February (4.03 ct/kWh). Compared to the results of the same period last year, the price is 70 % higher (2,15 ct/kWh).
  • The heat energy purchased for March amounted to 638,306 MWh, which is 2 % more than the quantity purchased for February. Compared to the same period last year, the amount purchased decreased by 1%.
  • The sellers offered 718,047 MWh of heat energy at the auction, which is 7 % more than in February. Compared to the same period last year, the amount of heat offered for sale decreased by 5 %.
