2015 biomass exchange trade overview

In 2015, the turnover of the biomass exchange more than tripled, to exceed EUR 39 million. In 2014, biomass for somewhat more than EUR 12 million was acquired via the exchange. The turnover grew due to the low biomass prices in the exchange and due to the particularities of the regulatory environment. The number of contracts concluded grew even faster – more than 5 times, from 522 in 2014 to 2,507 in 2015.

In 2015, regulated energy producers transferred most of their biomass purchases to the biomass exchange. Although in 2015 the law obligated to acquire 50% of the biomass required for energy production via the exchange.
