Amendments to the Conditions of Trade in Biomass Products adopted

The operator of the International Biomass Exchange (hereinafter referred to as the Exchange), BALTPOOL UAB, having evaluated the proposals made by market participants, has adopted amendments to the Conditions of Trade in Biomass Products, which will enter into force on 5 May 2025.
The main changes:
- The rules for the execution for indivisible quantity of orders are amended. The following indivisible order quantity multiples shall apply to wood chip products: 350 MWh and 70 MWh – when the quantity purchased is less than or equal to 840 MWh per week. 70 MWh orders are executed only in full and only with the same orders, i.e., partial execution of such orders or execution with 350 and 700 MWh orders (350 MWh repeat orders) will not be possible.
- If the buyer, in accordance with legal acts, is not required to prepare a set of financial statements and has not accounted for equity, it is considered that equity is equal to the profit accumulated during the previous financial year or several consecutive financial years (according to the tax return, income and expense accounting book, etc.). Such a buyer cannot be granted a category higher than D, point 6.2 does not apply and equity cannot be determined higher than EUR 10,000.
- The PEFC RED II certificate is included in the exchange, and only SBP certificate holders whose certification complies with Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, i.e. have certificates in accordance with SBP standards v2.0.
- The non-standard condition “Biomass delivered in vehicles with a length under 12 metres” is amended to limit not only the length of the means of transport but also the quantity of fuel delivered to 50 loose cubic metres.
- In order to expand the exchange’s activities in the territory of the Republic of Poland and taking into account the current practice of sampling and the documents required for delivery, additional non-standard conditions are added:

- 1. Determination of quality indicators using a daily compositeaggregate sample
- 2. 8.23. The biomass is supplied in accordance with the requirements of the “green certificates” issued by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office.
- Participation in the RED BP scheme is subject to fees approved by the Operator and published on its website.
