A new product is being introduced on the Biomass Exchange — sawdust

The operator of the International Biomass Exchange, BALTPOOL UAB, after evaluating the proposals expressed by participants of the biomass market, has adopted an amendment to the Conditions of Trade in Biomass Products (hereinafter – Trading Conditions), introducing a new biomass product on the exchange — “Sawdust.”
Requirements for the Sawdust Product:
Biomass type | Code | Moisture, % of gross weight | Ash content, % of dry matter | Fraction size | Chlorine content (% of dry matter) | Raw material | Allowable admixtures
Allowable quantity of the small particles fraction (<3.15 mm), % | Main fraction, mm (min quantity, %) | Large fraction (max cross-section 6 cm²), mm (max quantity, %) | Maximum allowable length, mm
Min. | Max. | Max. | |||||||||
Sawdust | SM1S | 35 | 55 | 1 | Up to 5 % of weight | 3,15 ≤ P ≤ 16 (min. 95 %) |
≤ 31,5 (up to 1 % of weight) |
– | <0,02% | Only fresh sawdust | – |
It should be noted that no impurities are allowed in this product — only fresh sawdust naturally produced during manufacturing.
If a dispute arises regarding the presence of impurities in the supplied biomass, a laboratory test is carried out to determine the chromium content in the biomass. The supplied biomass is considered to contain impurities if the chromium content exceeds 3 mg/kg (in dry wood).
