2017 06 14

Preparations for the next winter season increase biomass exchange turnover

In May, the turnover of BALTPOOL biomass exchange increased by 64% compared to April – from EUR 2.29 million to EUR 3.76 million. The increase was mostly due to the increased trade under long-term transactions: this trade grew 3 times from 6,306 TOE to 18,132 TOE. Nearly one half of the biomass sold under long-term transactions will be supplied during the next winter season.

A total of nearly 9,000 TOE of biomass was purchased for the 2017–2018 winter season in May, of which 4,600 TOE of woodchips was purchased by Klaipėda County heat producers; 2,650 TOE was purchased by Utena County producers and 1,560 TOE was purchased by Kaunas County producers.
