Record-level buyer activity in the BALTPOOL Biomass Exchange was recorded in January 2017. The turnover of the exchange amounted to EUR 6.9 million, which is an 87.44% increase compared to December 2016. The number of concluded contracts increased by 58.86% and amounted to 699. The absolute majority of the contracts (95.78%) were concluded in order to ensure the supply of biomass for the current heating season.
In January, the first contracts for biomass delivery for the summer season were concluded in Klaipėda and Kaunas counties. The amount to be delivered under these contracts is 2,184 TOE. The price under contracts concluded in Klaipėda County is 125 EUR/TOE, while the price in Kaunas County is 145 EUR/TOE.
